Audio Expertise for Analog Recordings
Digitize Archives follows standards associated with preserving high-quality audio when it comes to digitizing analog audio used in libraries and cultural institutions. While the standard level set by manufacturers for audio from commercial CDs is 44 kHz sample rate & 16 bit-depth, preservation-quality audio digitization should use a higher sample rate and file bit-depth.
If the audio consists of human voice with no instrumental music, the recommended sample rate is 48 kHz with a bit-depth of 24. For oral history recordings with music and/or sounds from nature, a sample rate of 96 kHZ with a 24 bit-depth is favored. Digitize Archives offers both options saved as uncompressed WAV files.
Efficient Archival Solutions for Audio
We can also provide consumer-access copies in the form of MP3 files that are much smaller than those discussed above. These allow for quicker transfers and streaming via the Internet. This is a preferred format saved at 192Kbps (the bit-rate), delivering high-quality compressed audio.
We can digitize all analog audio including audio cassettes, microcassettes, reel- to-reel audio tapes, and vinyl records.
